April is a GREAT month at the ALI thrift shop! It’s the perfect time to give your wardrobe and your home a new look for spring. Put your wool coat, your umbrella, and the giant pot that you cook beef stew in away for the year. Head down to the thrift shop to change them out for lightweight tops and sweaters in spring pastels, pots for your garden, and a new salad bowl
April is a great month all the way around. We can’t really say “April showers bring May flowers,” because enough rain to bring flowers is, shall we say, unlikely, but we have plenty of flowers and native plants that bloom April. There are a couple of noteworthy days on the calendar later in the month: Earth Day is April 22nd, and Administrative Professionals’ Day is April 25th. Lots of events in American history took place in April, too (most likely because the roads were a mess during the winter):
- The Revolutionary War began on April 19,1775
- George Washington was sworn in as our first President on April 30, 1789
- The Civil War began on April 12, 1861 and ended on April 9, 1865
- Congress ordered the words “In God We Trust” added to all our coins on April 22, 1864
Now that you can impress your friends with your knowledge of April trivia, stop in at the thrift shop and pick out something ELSE to impress them with. Remember, you need to shop quickly – because if it’s here in April, it probably WON’T be here in May.
